Trump Announces 25% Tariff on Countries Trading With Iran

President Donald Trump has imposed new economic sanctions on Iran. He announced a major move to pressure Tehran further.

President Trump said the United States will impose a 25 percent tariff on countries trading with Iran. He shared this decision on his social media platform, Truth Social.

He stated that the additional tariff will take effect immediately. He also made it clear that the decision is final and will not change.

Trump said this step targets countries that continue trade relations with Iran. He described the move as part of a strong economic response against Tehran.

According to foreign news agencies, this decision comes amid repeated warnings from President Trump. He has often threatened action against Iran and said the United States has very tough options available.

These options include possible military action against Iran. The US administration also confirmed that it remains in contact with Iranian opposition leaders.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said his government is carefully reviewing proposals sent by the United States. He added that contacts with US special envoy Steve Witkoff are still ongoing.

Araghchi also criticized Trump’s warning that military action could follow if protests turn violent. He said such statements encourage extremist elements.

Anti-government protests continue across Iran. A US-based human rights organization claims that 490 people have died in protests over the past two weeks.
