Terrorist Attacks in Pakistan 2025 Rise by 34 Percent
Terrorist attacks in Pakistan 2025 increased sharply, even though security forces killed many militants during the year. A new report shows a serious rise in violence across the country.

According to the report, border tensions, the return of militants, and changing strategies from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Balochistan worsened the security situation.
Security personnel and law enforcement officers made up more than 42 percent of the total deaths. The attacks killed 437 personnel, showing intense fighting and constant targeting of the army, police, and paramilitary forces. Terrorists also killed 354 civilians.
Security forces killed 243 militants in suicide attacks or counterterrorism operations. The conflict remained mostly regional, as more than 95 percent of attacks occurred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saw a 40 percent rise in incidents. Banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and allied groups maintained a strong presence there. The province recorded 413 attacks, which killed 581 people and injured 698 others.
The report highlighted coordinated attacks on August 14 in 11 districts. These attacks challenged the authority of the state.
Balochistan faced 254 attacks during 2025. The violence killed 419 people and injured 607 others. Attacks increased by 26 percent. Militants shifted from hit-and-run tactics to organized actions, including highway blockades, sieges, and kidnappings. These acts aimed to damage economic structures and state symbols.
Sindh reported 21 terrorist attacks, including 16 in Karachi. These incidents killed 14 people and injured 17 others.
Punjab recorded seven attacks, fewer than last year. These attacks killed five people and injured two police officers. In Islamabad, a suicide bombing outside a judicial complex killed 12 people.
Gilgit-Baltistan reported three attacks. These incidents killed three security personnel and injured six others.
Overall, terrorist attacks in Pakistan 2025 exposed serious security challenges and highlighted the need for stronger and coordinated counterterrorism efforts.
