Stranger Things 5 Finale Draws Huge Crowds in Cinemas

The Stranger Things 5 finale created massive excitement and achieved major success in cinemas. Fans turned out in large numbers to watch the final episode on the big screen.

Netflix released the last episode of its hit series during the New Year holidays. International media reports confirmed that cinemas earned an estimated $25 to $28 million from these special screenings.

The two-hour-long finale screened in cinemas across the United States. Fans gathered to say goodbye to the famous “Upside Down” world that made the series iconic.

Ticket prices varied across cinema chains. AMC and Cinemark sold food and drink vouchers for $20, while Regal and other chains charged $11 per ticket. The price honored the character Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown.

Because of these price differences, analysts found it difficult to calculate exact earnings. Netflix chose not to comment on the box office figures.

However, creators Matt and Ross Duffer shared that cinemas sold around 1.1 million vouchers nationwide. AMC alone reported earnings of nearly $15 million from over 753,000 viewers. The chain represented about one-third of participating cinemas.

Cinema owners welcomed this strong response. The domestic box office earned around $8.9 billion last year. This figure showed a slight increase from 2024 but still stayed below pre-pandemic levels.

Late-year releases, including Avatar: Fire and Ash, helped boost overall box office momentum. Industry experts now see renewed audience interest in theatrical experiences.

The overwhelming turnout once again proved the global popularity of the Stranger Things 5 finale.
