Modern science has started to confirm what the Holy Quran told us centuries ago about the seven heavens and life beyond Earth. Today, modern science has started to confirm these truths through research, discoveries, and cosmic theories.
Quran’s Guidance on Multiple Worlds
In Surah Ash-Shura, verse 29, Allah says: “Among His signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the living creatures He has scattered throughout them. He has the power to gather them whenever He wills.”
This verse shows two important truths. First, our universe is not the only one—Allah has created other worlds. Second, life exists in those worlds as well. The Quran also mentions seven heavens in several chapters. Scholars explain that the term may mean multiple universes or layers of the heavens.
The Mystery of Oumuamua
On October 19, 2017, astronomers at the University of Hawaii spotted something unusual. A shiny, long object moved rapidly across the sky. They named it Oumuamua, which means “scout” in Hawaiian.
It was the first interstellar object to enter our solar system. But scientists could not fully explain its nature. Unlike asteroids, it glowed brightly, and unlike comets, it had no tail.
Harvard professor Avi Loeb studied the object and claimed it was not a rock but a spacecraft built by intelligent beings. He believed it used sunlight as fuel. His theory sparked debate. Some agreed, while others rejected it due to lack of proof. Still, the idea gave weight to the Quran’s message that life may exist beyond Earth and other universes.
The Big Bang and Expanding Universe
Modern astronomy says the universe began 13.8 billion years ago with the Big Bang. Before this, all matter was compressed in a single point. Then, in an instant, it expanded, forming stars, galaxies, and planets.
The Quran also states that Allah commanded “Be!” and the heavens came into being. This remarkable similarity shows that faith and science can support each other.
Scientists also discovered that the universe is still expanding. If a spaceship left Earth today, it would take about 95 billion years to reach its edge. Humans cannot even imagine such a vast distance.

Dark Matter and Unseen Energies
Research shows that humans can only see about five percent of the universe. The rest is made up of dark matter and dark energy, which remain invisible to the human eye. The Quran already spoke of unseen worlds, and science is now catching up with that truth.
The Multiverse Theory
In the 20th century, scientists proposed the Multiverse Theory, which says that many universes exist side by side. This idea matches the Quran’s mention of seven heavens.
Research shows that before the Big Bang, only energy existed. From that energy, matter and life were created. Scientists also suggest that the expansion of energy may have created separate universes. Each of these universes may contain different kinds of life, unknown to us.
This theory again highlights what the Quran mentioned 1,400 years ago—that Allah has created many worlds beyond our own.
Seven Heavens in Islamic Teachings
Islamic scholars have explained the seven heavens in detail. Classical interpretations say:
- The first heaven is made of water and is home to Prophet Adam (A.S).
- The second heaven is of pearls, where Prophet Isa (A.S) and Prophet Yahya (A.S) live.
- The third heaven is of shining minerals, home to Prophet Yusuf (A.S) and Angel Azrael.
- The fourth heaven is of pure gold, where Prophet Idris (A.S) resides.
- The fifth heaven is of silver, home to Prophet Haroon (A.S).
- The sixth heaven is of ruby, where Prophet Musa (A.S) lives.
- The seventh heaven is of divine light, where Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) resides, near Sidrat-ul-Muntaha.
These descriptions connect with the Quranic verses and show that the seven heavens are real, whether as universes or spiritual layers.
Science and Faith Together
The discovery of Oumuamua, the theory of the Big Bang, the concept of the Multiverse, and the study of dark matter all point to a larger reality. Science is slowly uncovering what the Quran declared long ago.
It is possible that the strange object seen in 2017 was a spacecraft from another world. More research in the future may provide evidence. For believers, however, the Quran has already confirmed that Allah is the Creator of the seven heavens and all forms of life within them.
