Section 144 imposed in Murree on New Year as authorities announced strict measures to manage tourist activity and maintain peace.


The local administration enforced Section 144 in Murree for the New Year period. The restriction will remain in place for the next two days. During this time, only families can enter Murree Mall Road.


The District Police Officer Murree said the step aims to provide a safe and peaceful environment for visiting families. Bachelor tourists can still visit other areas of Murree, except Mall Road.


Meanwhile, Murree, also known as the Queen of Hills, remains under thick clouds. Tourists continue to arrive to celebrate the New Year. The Meteorological Department forecast rain and snowfall from today until January 2.

Due to the expected snowfall in Murree and Galiyat, the Punjab Highway Department issued an alert. Provincial Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharath instructed highway authorities to stay fully alert. He also directed them to keep snow-clearing machinery active at all times.


Authorities urged tourists to follow rules and cooperate with officials. Section 144 imposed in Murree on New Year remains a key step to ensure public safety during celebrations.
