Satellite Broadband in Punjab Approved for Remote Areas

Satellite Broadband in Punjab is moving forward as the Punjab government has approved a major decision to provide high-speed internet through satellite technology.

The decision came during an important meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Office in Lahore. The meeting took place on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

Senior Adviser Senator Anusha Rehman chaired the meeting. Officials discussed plans to deliver fast and reliable broadband across the province using satellite beams.

The Managing Director of NTC, the Director General of SUPARCO, and the Secretary IT Punjab attended the meeting. They shared technical input and implementation strategies.

The government will provide broadband services to educational institutions and hospitals in remote and underserved areas. Authorities decided to use Pakistan’s own advanced satellite technology for this project.

Punjab will become the first province to receive broadband from the national satellite. Officials will set up demo stations in North and South Punjab within two weeks.

The government has set a six-month target to deliver satellite-based broadband to far-flung areas. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz remains committed to providing modern digital facilities to people across the province.

This initiative will improve connectivity, education, and healthcare services. Satellite Broadband in Punjab will play a key role in reducing the digital divide and supporting digital development.
