Russian Pigeon Surveillance Drones Claim by Tech Company
Russian pigeon surveillance drones have entered the spotlight after a Russian technology company made a bold claim about bio-drone innovation.
A Russian company said it has turned pigeons into surveillance drones. The firm described them as biological drones, also called bio-drones.
Russian neurotechnology company Neiry Group said it installed brain implants in pigeons. The company said it can control the birds’ flight paths from a distance.
Engineers equipped the pigeons with small cameras, GPS trackers, and solar-powered control systems. The birds can send live video like regular drones.
Company said it does not need pilots or traditional training. Operators send electrical signals to the birds’ brains. These signals tell them to turn left, turn right, or follow a set route.

Neiry Group claimed these bio-drones can fly longer than standard drones. The company also said the birds can operate in areas where airspace restrictions limit drone flights.
The announcement raised interest in new surveillance technologies. Experts may study the ethical and security aspects of such systems.
The claim about Russian pigeon surveillance drones highlights how fast bio-technology and robotics continue to merge in modern innovation.
