In 2023, actor, director, and producer Farhan Akhtar announced Don 3. He revealed that Ranveer Singh would replace Shah Rukh Khan as the new Don. He also shared that filming would begin soon.

Farhan Akhtar shared the announcement on social media platform X. He confirmed that Ranveer Singh would play the lead role. However, two years after the announcement, reports now say that Ranveer has left the film.

According to close sources, Ranveer Singh made this choice after the huge success of his film Dharinder. He wants to work with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Lokesh Kanagaraj. He also does not want to appear in gangster roles repeatedly.

Reports add that Ranveer was supposed to start shooting for Don 3 soon after Dharinder released. Due to the current situation, the makers have postponed the film. Ranveer Singh has chosen to give priority to his other projects.
