Ramadan Moon Sighted in Saudi Arabia and UAE

Ramadan Moon Sighted in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and authorities confirmed that the first fast will be observed on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Officials held a major moon sighting meeting at Hautat Sudair. Authorities also arranged similar meetings at seven other locations across Saudi Arabia. Experts from the meteorology and astronomy departments attended these sessions.

Saudi media reported that officials used modern technology for moon sighting for the first time in the Kingdom. Experts used advanced equipment to ensure accurate confirmation.

The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia officially announced the sighting of the Ramadan moon. The court declared that Wednesday, February 18, 2026, will mark 1st Ramadan 1447 Hijri in the Kingdom.

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates also confirmed the moon sighting. The country will begin fasting on the same day.

However, officials in Malaysia and Turkey did not sight the moon. Both countries announced that Ramadan will begin on February 19.

Similarly, Singapore, Brunei, Australia, and Oman will also start Ramadan on February 19.

With the Ramadan Moon Sighted, millions of Muslims in Saudi Arabia and the UAE are now ready to begin the holy month of fasting and prayers from February 18.
