Punjab Government Holidays 2026 Notification Issued

The Punjab government has officially announced Punjab government holidays 2026 by issuing a notification for public holidays for the year 2026.

The provincial government confirmed that all public holidays approved by the federal government will also apply across Punjab.

According to the notification, the government will observe Kashmir Day on February 5 and celebrate Pakistan Day on March 23.

The government announced Eid ul Fitr holidays from March 21 to March 23. Youm-e-Takbeer will remain a public holiday on May 28.

Eid ul Azha holidays will fall from May 27 to May 29. Ashura holidays will be observed on June 24 and June 25. Independence Day will remain a public holiday on August 14.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi will be observed on August 25. Allama Iqbal Day will be a public holiday on November 9. Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas will both be observed on December 25.

After Christmas, December 26 will remain a holiday only for Christian employees. The government also announced bank holidays on January 1, February 18, and July 1.

The Punjab government also released a list of optional holidays. Muslim government employees can take only one optional holiday per year. Non-Muslim employees can take up to three optional holidays each year. Employees must seek prior approval from their department heads.

Deputy Commissioners can announce two local holidays in their respective districts. In Lahore, the provincial government will announce local holidays.

The notification confirms that Punjab government holidays 2026 aim to provide clarity and uniformity for public and private planning across the province.
