Punjab Assembly Opposition Resignations Cause Tension

All opposition members have submitted their resignations from the standing committees, marking the latest move in the Punjab Assembly opposition resignations issue. The Speaker has received the resignations but has not approved any so far.

According to sources, some members sent their resignations through WhatsApp from abroad. Despite resigning, most committee chairpersons are still using official vehicles.

Only two chairpersons, Hafiz Farhat and Owais Warraich, have returned their vehicles to the Punjab Assembly Secretariat after resigning.

This situation has created a new controversy in the assembly because most members continue to use government facilities despite their resignations.

Earlier, PTI founder Imran Khan had directed all his party members in the National Assembly, Provincial Assemblies, and Senate to resign from parliamentary committees.

Following his instructions, Junaid Akbar, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, along with 51 PTI members of the National Assembly, submitted their resignations to the Speaker.

Sources said National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has not yet taken any action. The government has requested him not to accept the resignations of members associated with the Sunni Ittehad Council.

After resigning from the National Assembly committees, several PTI members also resigned from Senate committees.

Experts believe that after the Punjab Assembly opposition resignations, parliamentary business may face disruption.
