According to reliable sources, President Asif Ali Zardari contacted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif by phone and requested his support in helping the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) form a government in Azad Kashmir.

Following the discussion, the Prime Minister set up a committee under Ahsan Iqbal’s leadership. The committee will decide whether or not the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will support PPP in forming the government. Members of the PML-N committee will hold negotiations with PPP representatives in the coming days.
Earlier, the PML-N’s parliamentary party in Azad Kashmir had already announced that it would sit in the opposition.
The PPP, however, is eager to lead the new government with the support of the PML-N. If the PML-N refuses to cooperate, the PPP plans to reach out to around 20 members from the forward bloc to secure the required majority.
This move marks another key political development as the PPP continues to strengthen its position in Azad Kashmir politics. Meanwhile, analysts believe the formation of the new government will determine the direction of future political alliances.
In summary, the Prime Minister forms committee for Azad Kashmir government formation to evaluate political support options and facilitate a smooth power transition in the region.
