The PPP Central Executive Committee Meeting on 27th Constitutional Amendment will take place today in Karachi.
Party members will review the government’s draft for constitutional amendments. Sources said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has five major concerns regarding the 27th Amendment.
PPP believes the provinces’ share should not fall below 57%. The party also insists that provincial autonomy must remain intact. PPP accepts the proposal for a single national curriculum in education.

The National Assembly has 336 seats, but 10 are vacant, leaving 326 members. To pass the amendment, 224 votes are required. The government alliance, including the PPP, currently holds support from 237 members.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is the largest party in the coalition with 125 members. PPP has 74 members, MQM has 22, PML-Q has 5, and IPP has 4.
Additionally, one member each from the PML-Zia, Balochistan Awami Party, and National Party supports the alliance. Four independent members also back the government. The opposition has 89 members, including 75 independents and 10 from JUI-F.
The opposition benches also include one member each from the Sunni Ittehad Council, Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen, BNP-Mengal, and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party.
The meeting today will play a key role in shaping PPP’s final stance on the 27th Constitutional Amendment.
