Power Distribution Companies Loss 472 Billion Rupees Pakistan

Power distribution companies loss reached Rs472 billion in the last fiscal year, according to a new report by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA).

NEPRA released the performance report of electricity distribution companies. The report showed that these companies caused a total loss of 472 billion rupees to the national treasury.

The report said companies lost 265 billion rupees due to transmission and distribution problems. These losses happened because of electricity wastage and system inefficiencies.

Companies also caused a loss of 207 billion rupees due to poor bill recovery. Many consumers did not pay their electricity bills, which increased the financial burden on the government.

NEPRA showed concern over rising transmission and distribution losses. The authority said companies failed to achieve their loss reduction targets.

The report also said that these losses increase circular debt. This situation creates serious financial pressure on the power sector and the national economy.
