The meeting took place at the Chief Minister House in Karachi. Officials gave a detailed briefing on the global increase in oil prices and Pakistan’s fuel reserves.

Federal ministers warned that if tensions in the Middle East increase, the price of crude oil could rise to 120 dollars per barrel.
They also discussed the possible impact of rising oil prices on Pakistan’s economy.
Government Preparing Alternative Plans
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the government is preparing alternative plans to deal with the financial impact of rising oil prices.
He added that three petrol ships are expected to reach Pakistan by tomorrow.
Officials also warned that Pakistan’s monthly oil import bill could increase to 600 million dollars if global prices continue to rise.
Government May Seek Relief from IMF
Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said the government will request relief from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on petroleum levy.
The meeting also decided to improve coordination between federal and provincial governments to manage the energy situation.
Officials agreed to increase cooperation to prevent fuel hoarding in the country.
Diplomatic Efforts for Fuel Supply
Federal ministers said Pakistan is also making diplomatic contacts with Saudi Arabia, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates for alternative fuel supply.
They added that the government is exploring routes other than the Strait of Hormuz to ensure stable oil supply.
These steps aim to protect Pakistan from disruptions caused by regional conflicts.
Government Urges Responsible Energy Use
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said people should use energy responsibly and support government efforts.
He added that keeping the national economy running remains the government’s priority, and also said all proposals discussed in the meeting will be presented to the cabinet for further discussion.
