Pakistani Forces Killed 274 Taliban Fighters: DG ISPR

Pakistani forces killed 274 Taliban fighters during a major military operation, according to DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif. He said security forces carried out effective action based on intelligence reports, and confirmed that Pakistan Army also lost 12 soldiers who embraced martyrdom during the operation.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif said terrorists attacked multiple locations, but Pakistani forces responded quickly and strongly. The army successfully stopped all attacks and destroyed terrorist positions.

DG ISPR said terrorists opened fire at 53 locations in 15 sectors during the night of February 21 and 22. Pakistani forces stayed ready and responded immediately. The army killed 274 militants and injured more than 400 terrorists.

Security forces also destroyed 73 terrorist posts and captured 10 posts. They destroyed 115 tanks and armored vehicles used by militants. He said terrorists fled and left behind the bodies of their fighters.

DG ISPR said Pakistan carried out air operations in different areas of Afghanistan. The army targeted terrorist headquarters in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktika. He confirmed that forces did not target any civilian population or infrastructure.

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif said forces destroyed an infantry brigade headquarters in Kabul and a logistics brigade headquarters in Kandahar. He added that forces also destroyed another headquarters in Paktika.

DG ISPR said terrorists tried to attack Pakistan using quadcopters and drones. These attacks targeted areas including Sibi, Abbottabad, and Nowshera. Pakistan’s anti-drone system successfully shot down these drones. He said Pakistan’s security forces stayed fully prepared and defended the country effectively.

DG ISPR said Taliban must choose between supporting terrorist groups or maintaining relations with Pakistan. He said Pakistan will protect its national security at all costs.He said Pakistan warned about terrorist threats earlier. DG ISPR added that the country’s military action was necessary for defense and national security.

He confirmed that 12 Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom and 27 soldiers got injured during the operation. DG praised their sacrifice and said the army remains committed to protecting the country.

He said the entire nation and political leadership stand united against terrorism, and added that Pakistan will continue strong action against terrorists.
