Skype launched in 2003. Microsoft bought it in 2011. The company officially ended the service on May 5, 2023. However, it gave users extra time to save their messages, contact lists, and call history.
Microsoft said Skype users have until January 2026 to export or delete their data. Users who log in to Microsoft Teams Free during this period can still access their Skype chat and call history.
Microsoft has clearly stated that if users take no action by January 2026, the system will permanently delete all Skype data. The company confirmed that no one can recover this data later.
With the new year approaching, Microsoft advised users to check their accounts immediately. The company wants users to protect their memories and important information.
