People on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) observe Kashmir Martyrs Day 2025 today. They honor the Kashmiri Muslims whom the Dogra army brutally killed on November 6, 1947.
On this day, the Dogra forces carried out mass killings in the districts of Jammu, Kathua, Udhampur, and Reasi. Thousands of Kashmiri Muslims had gathered to migrate safely toward Pakistan.

The Dogra army dismissed its Muslim soldiers from their posts before the massacre began. After their removal, a Hindu officer took command of the Jammu Cantonment. The Dogra forces, along with members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), launched a violent campaign against unarmed Muslims.
On November 6, 1947, the Dogra army and RSS militants attacked over 60 buses carrying Muslim migrants near Samba. The RSS and Dogra forces ambushed the convoy, burning 123 villages and killing innocent civilians.
The brutal killings continued for two weeks, claiming the lives of nearly 237,000 Kashmiri Muslims. These events marked one of the darkest chapters in the history of Jammu and Kashmir.
Even after 78 years, the people of Kashmir are still denied their right to self-determination. Global powers must seriously address this long-standing issue to bring justice and peace to the region.
Today, Kashmiris across the world pay tribute to the martyrs and renew their pledge to continue their peaceful struggle for freedom.
The story of Kashmir Martyrs Day 2025 is a reminder that the sacrifices made in 1947 will never be forgotten until Kashmir achieves true independence.
