Karachi Matric Grading System Raises Passing Marks to 40%
The Karachi Matric Grading System has changed after the Board of Secondary Education Karachi introduced new rules for matric exams.
The board announced the new grading system to improve education standards and evaluate students more effectively.
According to the official statement, the board increased the passing marks from 33 percent to 40 percent.
Under the new rules, students must now score at least 40 marks out of 100 to pass a written paper. Earlier, students needed only 33 marks to pass.
Similarly, the passing marks for a 75-mark paper increased from 25 marks to 30 marks.
The board also increased passing marks in practical exams. Students earlier needed 15 marks out of 45 to pass a practical test. Now they must score at least 18 marks.

Ifficials said the board has already implemented the new system for Class 9 examinations.
However, the board will apply this system to Class 10 examinations from 2027.
Education authorities said the change aims to improve academic quality and measure students’ performance more accurately.
The Karachi Matric Grading System will raise the academic standard by increasing the passing marks and improving student evaluation.
