JUI Decision on 27th Constitutional Amendment

JUI Decision on 27th Constitutional Amendment shows the party’s refusal to support the proposed changes.

In Islamabad, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) announced that it will not vote in favor of the 27th Constitutional Amendment. Party leader and Senator Kamran Murtaza said that JUI has objections to several points and does not trust the government. He added that the new amendment reverses the previous 26th Amendment.

Murtaza explained that the government did not allow the party to read the amendment. Despite their reservations, JUI wanted to join the joint committee and present its suggestions.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman, before leaving for Dubai, also confirmed this stance. He said that JUI decided not to vote for the 27th Constitutional Amendment because the government reintroduced the points removed in the 26th Amendment, breaking its promise.

The disagreement highlights JUI’s ongoing mistrust in the government’s decision-making process. The JUI Decision on 27th Constitutional Amendment reflects the party’s firm political position.
