Islamabad: After yesterday’s Islamabad Court Blast Strike, lawyers across Pakistan are on strike today. All bar associations have announced a complete boycott of court proceedings.
The District Judicial Complex in Islamabad remains completely closed today. The bar association has advised lawyers, clients, and clerks to stay home. Bar officials directed all lawyers not to appear in court today.
Yesterday, the District Bar Association announced a three-day mourning period and a one-day strike after the tragic suicide attack. The Islamabad Bar Council also declared a three-day strike to express sorrow and solidarity.
Meanwhile, the Rawalpindi District Bar Association is also observing a strike. Lawyers are boycotting court hearings to protest and mourn the victims. Bar officials said lawyers will appear only in emergency cases, and courts have postponed all other hearings.
Across Punjab, including Lahore, lawyers continue their strike in lower courts. The Punjab Bar Council had earlier declared a complete strike as a mark of unity and protest against terrorism. Their statement said the strike shows the lawyers’ unity, respect for the judiciary, and firm stand against terrorism.
In Peshawar, the High Court Bar Association strongly condemned the Islamabad blast and announced a boycott of court proceedings today.
Similarly, the Balochistan Bar Council also announced a boycott of all court activities across the province. Bar officials hoisted black flags in the Balochistan High Court and lower court bar rooms. Lawyers skipped court, so officials postponed all cases to the next hearing.
The Balochistan Bar Council said the government has failed to protect the lives and property of citizens. The strike expresses solidarity with the lawyers of Islamabad.
In Islamabad’s Red Zone, security has been tightened following the suicide blast. The High Court and surrounding areas are under high alert, with strict security measures in place.
The Islamabad Court Blast Strike reflects the unity and determination of Pakistan’s legal community. Lawyers across the country are standing together in grief and protest, demanding stronger protection and justice for all.
