Islamabad 26 December Holiday: Offices Open, Local Closure
Islamabad 26 December holiday confusion has ended after official notifications from authorities clarified the situation.
The Cabinet Division announced that no federal holiday will take place on 26 December. All federal ministries and departments will remain open on Friday.
The notification clearly stated that federal offices across Islamabad will continue normal operations without interruption.
Meanwhile, the district administration announced a local holiday in city on 26 December 2025. The Additional District Magistrate, Sahibzada Muhammad Yousaf, approved the notification.
According to the order, all government offices within Islamabad’s revenue limits will remain closed. However, authorities excluded essential services from this closure.
These essential services include the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad, Capital Development Authority, ICT Administration, Islamabad Police, IESCO, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines, and hospitals.
The district administration confirmed that these departments will continue working as usual to ensure uninterrupted public services. The local holiday will apply only within Islamabad’s limits.
The Islamabad 26 December holiday applies only to local offices, while all federal institutions will remain open.
