Iran protests spread to 78 cities across the country despite strict security measures. Clashes between protesters and security forces killed at least 19 people.
The protests have reached 78 cities in 26 provinces. Demonstrators continue to take to the streets as tensions rise across Iran.
According to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), more than 50 protesters suffered injuries due to gunfire. Security forces arrested at least 990 people during the crackdown.
HRANA reported that protests continue to expand despite heavy police presence and extra deployment of security forces. Authorities failed to stop the spread of demonstrations.
The protests have now entered their ninth day. University students actively participate in rallies and protest activities.
To control the situation, police and security forces used live fire, tear gas, and mass arrests. Authorities aim to prevent further expansion of the protests.
Meanwhile, the government announced a monthly allowance of seven dollars for each citizen for the next four months. Officials say the move aims to reduce public pressure.
At the same time, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said the government must accept legitimate public demands. He also said authorities will defeat foreign-backed conspiracies.
