KARACHI – Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman condemned the Israeli attack on the Gaza aid flotilla. He called it “another act of open terrorism.” The assault, he said, showed Israel’s cruelty against unarmed civilians. Those on board were only carrying aid for the people of Gaza. Their mission was peaceful, yet they were met with violence.
Gaza’s Humanitarian Crisis
In his statement, Hafiz Naeem spoke about the severe crisis in Gaza. People there are facing famine, starvation, and a shortage of basic needs. He said Gaza is drowning in blood, hunger, and misery. At the same time, peace-loving people from around the world are risking their lives to send aid.
Criticism of U.S. Support for Israel
The JI leader criticized the United States, saying it calls itself a messenger of peace but continues to protect Israel at all costs. “The U.S. does not even allow a small amount of aid to reach the people of Gaza because of its blind support for Israel,” he added.

Questioning Global Claims of Humanity
Hafiz Naeem raised serious questions about international values and standards. “Is this the humanity, democracy, human rights, and international law that the world keeps claiming to uphold?” he asked, stressing that the international community’s silence encourages such aggression.
Wider Outrage Against Flotilla Attack
His condemnation came as the Global Sumud Flotilla, carrying aid and activists from around the world, was intercepted by the Israeli navy near Gaza. Reports confirm that vessels were stopped, activists detained, and some ships attacked with water cannons. Among the detained was Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, whose presence drew global attention.
The flotilla organizers described the Israeli move as “illegal” and a “desperate attempt” to maintain Gaza’s isolation. Protests have already erupted in Turkey, Italy, Germany, and other countries, while Colombia and Ireland demanded accountability for Israel’s actions.

Call for Global Action
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman urged the international community to stand up against Israeli attack on the Gaza aid flotilla. He stressed that aid convoys are peaceful and represent the world’s collective conscience, and attacking them is a crime against humanity.
He reaffirmed Jamaat-e-Islami’s solidarity with Palestinians and warned that silence from world powers would only deepen Gaza’s suffering.
