On the Gaza War Anniversary, Gaza stands as a tragic reminder of human suffering. Once filled with life and hope, the region now lies in ruins after continuous Israeli aggression since October 2023.
The attacks began on October 7, 2023, after Hamas’s operation. Israel called it a “defensive act,” but it turned into what many describe as genocide against Palestinians.
Massive Loss of Lives
From October 2023 to September 2025, more than 67,000 Palestinians have been killed, including about 30% children. Gaza’s Ministry of Health reports that both civilians and fighters are among the dead. The UN has called Israel’s actions “deliberate attempts to erase the Palestinian population.”

Israeli Casualties
According to Reuters, 1,665 Israelis and foreign nationals died in this conflict. Around 1,200 deaths occurred during the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. The Israeli military lost 466 soldiers, and nearly 3,000 were wounded. Hamas had taken 251 hostages, and Israel believes 48 remain in Gaza, with only 20 possibly alive.
Gaza Reduced to Rubble
UN satellite data shows over 193,000 buildings in Gaza have been destroyed or damaged, including 213 hospitals and over 1,000 schools. Only 14 hospitals function partially, packed with the wounded and displaced. The UN Human Rights Commission warns that forcing residents to relocate would be considered ethnic cleansing.
Displacement and Refugee Camps
Today, only 18% of Gaza’s land is outside military zones. In August 2025, Israel’s assault on Gaza City forced over 417,000 people to flee south. Families have been displaced multiple times, building tent cities in southern Gaza. People sleep on the ground, children cry from hunger, and clean water has become a luxury.

Famine and Starvation
Famine in Gaza has become a reality. Around 514,000 people, or one in four Palestinians, suffer from extreme hunger. So far, 177 people, including 36 children, have died due to starvation. Reports show 60% of pregnant women and new mothers are malnourished. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu called famine reports “false,” but the starving faces and dying children tell another story.
Aid Blocked and Looted
After an 11-week ban, Israel allowed limited aid in May 2025, but the supplies remain far below the needs. In September, 73% of aid trucks were looted before reaching Gaza—some by starving civilians, others by armed groups. Over 2,340 Palestinians were killed while trying to get food.
A Test of Humanity
Gaza is no longer just a place—it has become a test of humanity. Children die of hunger, mothers bury their loved ones, and the world watches in silence. What began as a war against a group has turned into a tragedy for an entire nation.
On this Gaza War Anniversary, the rubble, hunger, and silence remind the world that humanity has failed Gaza.
