Domestic Violence Bill 2025 Passed for Family Protection

The Domestic Violence Bill 2025 aims to protect wives, children, and all family members living in the same house. The National Assembly passed this important bill.

After approval in the National Assembly, the bill will now move to the Senate. The bill states that insulting a wife, child, or any person living in the home is a crime.

The bill says that emotional and psychological abuse is also a punishable crime. Anyone guilty can face up to three years in jail or a fine of up to one lakh rupees.

The bill also declares that following or harassing disabled or elderly family members is a crime. Keeping a wife in the home against her will or damaging the privacy or dignity of any family member is a punishable act.

Threatening a family member with physical harm is also a crime. Blaming any person living in the home without proof will also lead to punishment. Neglecting the care of a wife, children, or any household member is considered a punishable offense.

The bill also covers sexual and economic abuse. It applies to wives, children, elderly people, adopted children, and transgender persons living in the same household.

This bill was presented in the National Assembly by Sharmila Faruqi, a member of the Pakistan Peoples Party.

The Domestic Violence Bill 2025 strengthens legal protection for every household member and ensures safety and respect at home.
