Cloudflare Outage: 20% of Global Internet Affected
Cloudflare outage caused problems for internet users around the world on Tuesday. Many websites and online services stopped working because of a technical fault in Cloudflare.
During the outage, platforms like ChatGPT, League of Legends, New Jersey Transit, and many other websites faced disruption. Users could not open services and saw error code 500.
Cloudflare, based in San Francisco, said that its engineers fixed most issues. They also said that they continue to monitor the system for any new problems.

Other affected services included X, Shopify, Dropbox, Canva, Coinbase, and Moody’s credit rating service. All these websites rely on Cloudflare for speed and security.
Cybersecurity expert Mike Chapple explained that Cloudflare makes the internet faster and safer. But when Cloudflare faces an issue, it creates large-scale disruptions across the internet.
He said that Cloudflare works as a “content delivery network.” It stores website data on thousands of servers to give users fast and secure access.
He added that when you open a website that uses Cloudflare, your computer connects to the nearest Cloudflare server, not the website directly. This setup protects the website from heavy traffic and gives quick results. But this system stops working when Cloudflare breaks down.
Last month, Microsoft also faced a major outage in its Azure cloud portal. Users could not access Office 365, Minecraft, and other services.
In October, Amazon’s cloud services also experienced a major outage. It affected social media, gaming, food delivery, streaming, and financial platforms.
This latest Cloudflare outage shows how sensitive the global internet system is and how much people depend on cloud services.
