Bangladesh suspends visa services for India after security threats from Hindu extremist groups. The government takes this step due to serious safety concerns, officials say.

According to reports, Bangladesh temporarily closed visa sections at three more important diplomatic missions in India. The latest decision suspends all visa categories except business and employment visas.

The Foreign Office stated that the Bangladeshi Deputy High Commission in Kolkata has fully stopped consular and visa services. Authorities also suspended all visa services, including tourist visas, in Mumbai and Chennai.
Officials explained that security incidents occurred near these missions. Due to these risks, the government halted visa operations. The decision focuses entirely on security reasons.
Earlier, on December 22, Bangladesh suspended visa and consular services at its High Commission in New Delhi. It also closed services at the Assistant High Commission in Agartala and the visa center in Siliguri.
