5G Services in Pakistan: PTA Confirms Launch Timeline

5G services in Pakistan are getting closer as authorities complete all major preparations. The country now moves toward the official launch of next-generation mobile technology.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, shared this update during an informal talk with journalists. He confirmed that the groundwork for the 5G spectrum auction is complete.

He stated that 5G technology will open a new chapter in Pakistan’s digital future. It will provide faster internet speeds and modern services to users.

The PTA Chairman explained that the authority will request the government to hold the 5G spectrum auction before Ramadan. This step will help attract investment in the telecom sector.

He also announced that PTA will release the Information Memorandum within the next 10 to 15 days. This document will include auction rules, available spectrum, and technical details.

He highlighted that 5G services will not only improve mobile internet speed. They will also support growth in IT, fintech, e-health, smart cities, and industrial sectors.

The Chairman added that 5G is a key milestone under the Digital Pakistan Policy. It will improve user experience and strengthen the national economy.

He further said that after the auction, operators will receive enough time to expand their 5G networks. This approach will allow a phased and effective service rollout.

He expressed hope that local and international investors will show strong interest. This interest will strengthen the telecom sector and push Pakistan ahead in regional digital growth.
